05/10/2005 "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"The ground-breaking radio play from across the pond that streaked into American airwaves in the 70's is what the newly formed Fake Radio Players ran as their first show. In an attempt to mix things up, literally, this show, not being from the 40's or 50's, is nonetheless highly entertaining and worthy of the wholesome comedic interpretation care of the Fake Radio Players. At the time of this performance, the feature film version of the collected radio plays was in theaters. It turns out that MORE people came to hear us than went to see the film version. Can you beat that?
04/14/2007 "Meet Me in St. Louis"Wonderful cast. Great singing. Cute neurotic children. What more could you ask for from the Fake armada? It's all here in ";Meet Me in St Louis";
08/14/2005 "Mr. and Mrs. Smith"In typical Fake Radio style, ";Mr. and Mrs. Smith"; is a wonderful romp through the pratfalls and snafus of married life. The team excels in its interpretation of this baudy radio show. Bob Hope and Carol Lombard were the original stars of the show and the personalities come to life through the masterful performances of our own Chris Bonno and Kirsten Reuters. Jeffrey Johnson, Jeremy Kramer and the rest of the cast really kick it out as well. Sit back, sip your rented beer and enjoy a fun-loving traverse through the world of married life in the 40's.
6/15/2007 "Notorious"Direct from the soul of Alfred Hitchcock himself comes this terse drama of post-ww2 nazi fetishism in the South American high life. Fast drinking women and cool tempered G-men populate this tale with sizzling sex and a few laughs as well.
08/15/2007 "The Detectives Show"Two pot-boiler, raw and raunchy romps into the world of espionage and intrigue. ";Dangerous Assignment"; and ";The Man Called X"; fill out a great show of singing, comedy and interesting advertisements. Enjoy the chase.
10/31/2005 "Our Town"Thorton Wilder captured a part of America that we will probably never see or hear from again. That simpler, quieter, smaller township lifestyle that encompassed not only the American dream, but the basic needs of humans on Earth. Listen as the cast faithfully performs this down-home story that is sweet and sad and completely compelling in its concise perception on the human condition. There's also a few surprises as well."
10/16/2005 "Phantom of the Opera"Many interpretations have been made of this story of high opera and twisted obsessive love. From the Lon Chaney silent film to the popular musical of Broadway. Presented in its full high fidelity grandeur, FAKE style. As always, we have a few variety moments and high frivolity to offset the deep, dark myopia that a love of opera and sopranos can afford ye. Listen as we give you a sonic joy ride, one that is guaranteed to please.
06/15/2005 "The Philadelphia Story" + "Casablanca"A double-header fills out the bill for our second show as the newly formed Fake Radio Players. The group was on their best behavior and most entertaining. Music, drama, comedy, personality. All on the slate for the show feautured below. And, the sexy Bogartness of David Koff - an interpretation of the leading man role that is one in a million. Give a listen and sip more wine. Or more espresso. Or just have a glass of water - we need more fluids. Enjoy. As time goes by...
02/11/2007 "The Philadelphia Story"A lot of great moments are to be had in this show. The date opens with a comical rendition of an old Batman and Superman radio short. Not to be missed!
07/15/2005 "War of the Worlds"Is there a more important radio play in American history than ";War of the Worlds"; I dare say not. Not even the infintile book reading sessions of our president can gather the kind of whirlwind from its listeners. In typical topical style of the masters of the Fake, this show ran at the same time as the Stephen Spielberg film. As it turns out, BOTH film and radio versions made the same amount of money...Hyman Schmoygl, our Fake accountant, is still collecting the receipts and should be heard from soon. Real soon. While we are waiting for him to call, you should give the show a listen. It's real kewl.
11/13/2005 "The Wizard of Oz"The Wizard of Oz. Does anything else sum up our collective childhood any better?
11/12/2006 "The Wizard of Oz 2006"Another roaring rendition of that childhood classic.
12/11/2005 "It's a Wonderful Life"Old man Potter said it best: ";You're just a warp frustrated young man...";
12/17/2006 "It's a Wonderful Life 2006"The best way to cap off a less than thrilling year is with a thrilling cast thrilling a great crowd at the Fake.
07/15/2006 "Christmas in July"Funny people doing funny things.
